It is a writer you drive rather than a pipeline that runs without you, and at the entry price it is not close: we have nothing at $9. This page is about what the two products are for, not which is cheaper, because on price there is no argument.

What we left out, and why
- Articles per month. Koala is priced in words and credits, not articles. Dividing their word allowance by our word range would be our arithmetic presented as their number, so the row is left out.
- Keyword volume and difficulty figures, a backlink exchange, AI-answer visibility tracking, a pre-publish gate, and language support. None are stated on their pricing page.
None of these is a claim that Koala AI lacks the feature. It is a claim that we could not read it on their site, which is a different and much smaller statement.
When Koala AI is the better choice.
- A real free tier: 5,000 words and 25 credits, no credit card, stated in their own FAQ. We have no free tier at all — our cheapest way in is a $1 charge.
- $9 a month is an order of magnitude below our cheapest subscription at $89. For someone writing occasionally, that is the entire decision.
- A far bigger tool surface than ours: model choice across several frontier models, bulk writing mode, Deep Research, live Amazon data for affiliate articles, an API, and internal linking across up to 50 sites.
- They publish named customers and case studies. We have none, and will not borrow anyone else’s.
- If you want to sit in an editor and write, that is what Koala is built for. Rankli is built to run a calendar without you, which is the wrong shape for that job.
When Rankli is.
- Rankli is bought by the article, not the word: the plan says 15, 30, 60 or 90 finished articles a month, published to your CMS, and a regeneration spends one and keeps both versions.
- Every draft passes a hard SEO check that can hold it — including the fabricated-statistic rule, the empty-section rule, and a check that the article actually mentions what your business sells.
- Citation measurement across four AI engines is on every plan, and from Growth up it runs as a pre-registered experiment against a held-out control rather than a dashboard you interpret yourself.
Each of these is a rule in the running product — the publish gate, the fabricated-statistic detector and the propose-and-accept editor are code, not positioning, and the pricing page states the limits they enforce.

Koala starts at $9 and you start at $89. Why?
Because they are selling words and we are selling a finished, published, checked article plus the measurement over it. That is not an argument that $89 is better value for everyone — for a lot of people $9 plainly is.
Can I compare articles per month directly?
Not from their page, which is why that row is missing here. Their allowance is words, with a footnote that some models count at 2x or 3x. Turning that into an article count would mean picking a model and a length on their behalf, and printing our arithmetic as their fact.
