Why do volume and difficulty show an em dash?
Because we did not measure them. Real volume and difficulty come from a paid index (we use DataForSEO in the product when an account is configured); on this free page there is no such account, so the columns are empty rather than filled with a number somebody invented. A fabricated volume silently decides which articles get written.
What does intent mean here?
Informational means they want to understand something, commercial means they are comparing options, transactional means they are ready to act, navigational means they are looking for a specific brand. It decides what kind of article each phrase deserves.
What if my site cannot be read?
Sites that draw their text in the browser hand a plain reader an empty shell. We say so rather than inventing a category — and it is worth knowing, because most crawlers see the same nothing.
